Former reality television star and cage fighter Alex Reid and his fiancee Nikki have welcomed twin boys following a harrowing pregnancy which saw her waters break at just 18 weeks
Nikki had a caesarian section on June 28, and both boys, who are non-identical, were born healthily soon after.
The 36-year-old has documented her IVF journey over seven years under the handle ivf_mama_nikki on Instagram.
It is there that she announced the names of the little bundles of joy, Phoenix Bobby and Hunter George, and told how she was looking forward to getting home to their daughter, two-year-old Anastasia.
She told her followers: “Welcome to the world, Phoenix Bobby Reid and Hunter George Reid.”
Nikki and Alex, who have been engaged since 2014, were advised to abort the babies when her waters broke due to having just a one per cent chance of survival.
But Nikki refused, and the fearless boys fought on until about 36 weeks before Nikki was told she would have to give birth as one of the twins was a little small.
The couple has been flooded with congratulatory messages on social media, with many praising Nikki for continuing to fight for the twins after such a harrowing time.
One said: “The end game was just worth every single thing you’ve been through. A true fighter. Always has been, and always will be! Beautiful family. x”
Another said: “I’m so happy for your happy ending. If anyone deserves this, it’s you! Amazing woman and never gave up a true inspiration xxx”
Now at home with the twins, Alex and Anastasia, Nikki added a video of their journey and captioned it: “This is what dreams are made of!”
