Priyanka Chopra Jonas, in a recent interview on Dax Shephard’s Armchair Expert podcast, shared her personal experience and thoughts on freezing her eggs in her early 30s
The 40-year-old actress spoke about the process and its benefits along with the empowerment it brings.
Chopra Jonas explained that she decided to freeze her eggs to continue pursuing her ambitions without worrying about her biological clock
She was passionate about achieving certain milestones in her career and also hadn’t yet found the right partner to have children with. Her mother, who is an ob-gyn, advised her to consider freezing her eggs when she was 36, which further reinforced her decision.
Chopra Jonas now advocates for egg freezing and advises “everyone” to consider it
She emphasises the reality of the biological clock and the challenges of conceiving and carrying a pregnancy after the age of 35, particularly for women. By freezing their eggs, individuals can take control of their biological clock, giving themselves the freedom to prioritise their careers and choose when to start a family. Importantly, she notes that frozen eggs remain the same age as when they were preserved, regardless of how much time passes.
Chopra Jonas also shared that her desire to have children and a successful career almost held her back from dating her now-husband, Nick Jonas
She had always wanted kids at some point and was unsure if he shared the same desire at the time. However, they eventually found common ground, and in January 2022, they welcomed their first child, daughter Malti Marie, through surrogacy.
It is important to note that Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s perspective on egg freezing is based on her personal experiences and choices
Whilst she encourages others to consider fertility preservation, every individual’s circumstances and choices may differ. It is always advisable to consult with medical professionals and consider personal factors before making any decisions regarding fertility and family planning.
