Prince Gustav and Princess Carina, of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, are expecting a baby via surrogate
The couple has had to wait almost 20 years to marry due to an inheritance rule and are now becoming parents in their 50s.
According to an official press release from the royal residence Berleburg Castle, in Germany, the baby will arrive in the summer of 2023.
But there has been no official announcement to confirm the date or the gender of the baby.
According to royal sources, the baby will be the first ever born via surrogate.
Reporting in CNE News, the royal family’s spokesperson, Lene Balleby said the royals are ‘very happy on behalf of the couple.’
A quote said to be on behalf of the couple, said: “Princess Carina and Prince Gustav are very happy and grateful for this opportunity and thank everyone involved who has helped to find a legally legal path to follow.”

Princess Carina, who is a former model and acclaimed author, spends her time between Germany and Purbeck, in Dorset, and is said to enjoy the English town.
