Elvis’ granddaughter reveals she had help of a surrogate to have a child

Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough has revealed she is a mother and that she welcomed the child with the help of a surrogate

The news was revealed at a memorial service for her late mother Lisa-Marie Presley, who passed away following a small bowel obstruction in January 2023.

Riley’s husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, gave a moving speech on behalf of Riley and referenced their daughter, Tupelo.

As the now sole heir of Graceland, Riley, 34, told Vanity Fair in a recent interview that she had the help of a surrogate due to her autoimmunity issues caused by her Lyme disease diagnosis.

She said: “I can carry children, but it felt like the best choice for what I had going on physically with the autoimmune stuff.

“I think it’s a very cool, selfless and incredible act that these women do to help others.”

She also said in the interview that their baby was like a miniature of her husband, but she did not discuss the surrogacy arrangement.

She discussed her daughter’s name and that the couple had picked a name they felt represented her heritage and her ultra-famous grandfather.

US media reports that commercial surrogate arrangements can range in price from $40,000 to $100,000.
