Cool down this summer with some fertility-friendly homemade Vegan Strawberry Ice Cream.
Strawberries are a great source of vitamin C. Vitamin C supports the immune system and helps fight infection. It also helps with iron absorption which is essential for both men and women when trying to conceive. Vitamin C is also important for sperm motility and vitality. Strawberries help to reduce inflammation in the body and have shown to reduce CRP (C-reactive protein which is a medical marker of inflammation) levels when a portion is consumed daily.
Strawberries also support fertility as they are rich in folate. Folate is vital preconception and beyond as it plays an important role in cell division in the body and is also linked to helping to reducing birth defects.
Bananas are rich in potassium which plays a part in controlling blood pressure and vitamin B6, which helps to regulate hormones, and are also low in fat.
Honey possesses an array of plant chemicals that act as antioxidants. It also contains antibacterial and antifungal properties (in particular raw and manuka honey).
