What is a Hysteroscopy?
A hysteroscopy is a medical procedure that involves examining the inside of the uterus (womb) using a thin, lighted instrument called a hysteroscope. The doctor inserts the hysteroscope through the vagina and cervix into the uterus, enabling visualization of the uterine cavity and the lining of the uterus, known as the endometrium.
Day of Hysteroscopy/ Day After Hysteroscopy
Greetings and welcome back! Here’s an update on my recent hysteroscopy procedure. Yesterday, on June 15, 2023, I underwent the hysteroscopy successfully. During the surgery, the medical team skillfully removed the scar tissue and inserted a balloon. The doctor prescribed estrogen and an antibiotic.
After the procedure, the doctor informed me of the possibility that the balloon may need to remain in place for up to two months this time. Additionally, they mentioned the potential utilization of stem cells to enhance my uterine lining. However, I anticipate receiving a more comprehensive explanation and further details regarding these matters during my forthcoming post-operative appointment.
Upon my return from surgery, I experienced a substantial amount of pain, rendering its management quite challenging. This difficulty occurred because the surgery center had recently administered pain medication, along with instructions to refrain from taking additional doses for a period of six hours. However, due to the intensity of my discomfort, I took a dosage slightly earlier than prescribed. After four hours, I took another dose, which effectively alleviated the pain by morning. Consequently, I no longer required additional pain medication.
