If you were watching Elton John perform at Glastonbury last night you would have seen him pay a beautiful tribute to his dear friend George Michael, who would have just turned 60
As Elton sang “Don’t let the sun go down on me”, with a gorgeous picture of George on the screen, the tears poured as we remembered our music hero. As huge fans here in the Babble Office, we have followed George’s career from the start, and miss him very much.
But it isn’t just incredible music that George has given the world. He is reported to have given away hundreds of thousands of pounds in charity donations and gifts to people in need, including a very special donation to a woman named Jo Maidment. Jo went on to ITV’s daytime program This Morning the other day to share with viewers that she had her daughter thanks to IVF treatment secretly paid for the late George Michael.
Jo Maidment went on the ITV show on Friday (23 June) as it aired a special tribute episode ahead of what would have been the star’s 60th birthday on Sunday (25 June).
She told how she had her “miracle” daughter Betsey after Michael stepped in when he saw on the show in 2010 talking about the lack of funding for IVF.
Jo isn’t the only woman that George has helped with the cost of her IVF.
Lynette Gillard from Bolton was gifted £9,000 by superstar George Michael.
Fitness instructor, Lynette and her partner, Nathan Hart, did not know for nine years that the Faith singer was the mystery donor and told The Sun newspaper that she believed it was fate.
She appeared on Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal in 2008 to win enough money to have IVF, but walked away with just £3,000.
The following day George Michael contacted the show and said he wanted to gift Lynette the funds she needed, but did not wish to be named publicly.
George, we love you!
