The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore has opened up about her desire to have a sibling for her daughter, Brooklyn, four
Kenya, 52, discusses having a surrogate to carry the child for her with co-stars Kandi Burress and Shamea Morton, who have both been down the same road – even using the same surrogate.
During a lunch date, the talk turned to babies, with Kandi asking Kenya about the embryos she has left over and whether her ex-husband, Marc Daly, would be okay with her using them.
Kenya said: “When we signed the paperwork, it was asked, ‘You can only choose one person,’ and I was chosen.”
The friends went on to discuss the surrogacy process and what it entailed.
Kandi said she and Shamea used the same surrogate for their children after Kandi introduced them.
Kenya asked if she would feel jealous using a surrogate.
Kandi allied her fears, saying, “When your baby gets here, it is the exact same feeling; they’re going to have you in the hospital, in the bed.
“They’re checking you in, too. And you’re going to have that baby with you, bonding.”
Kenya said she would need to talk with Marc about the situation, but whatever the outcome of that chat, she said she would go forward with her plans.
Other celebrities who have had children via surrogate in their 50s include Janet Jackson and, more recently, supermodel Naomi Campbell, who has just had her second child, aged 53.
