Former NSYNC band member Lance Bass has revealed he found it hard to not get down about his journey to parenthood with his husband Michael Turchin
The couple is now parents to twins, Violet Betty and Alexander James, who will be two in October 2023.
The 44-year-old said in recent US media interviews that the journey to becoming parents was a long road and a difficult time.
He said: “Us trying to get pregnant was a difficult time.
“It took us three years to finally get these kids. So, you do appreciate those little moments.”
The couple went through two full cycles of IVF and ten egg donors.
He said: “There were definitely times when we went to so many different donors, and you start questioning the universe.
“But you keep going forward, and the universe gives you what you need when you need it.
“And I truly believe that because these kids are so special. I could not imagine these two kids not being my kids.”
He explained that the couple have created a special bond with not only their surrogate but also their egg donor too.
He said: “They’re just so lovely, they’re the angel moms.
“The donor was just so cool, so nonchalant, and my son looks exactly like her. It’s crazy.”
He said that he would encourage anyone going through this to be patient, not to give up, and to rely on their support network.
He said: “Know that people are going through what you are going through. In our journey, we met so many couples that went through exactly the same thing that we did. It really relieves a lot of the stress.”
He said that as the twins grow and develop, he is developing his own unique parenting style.
He said: “Everything is so individual. You can’t freak out like, ‘They haven’t met this milestone yet’, or ‘My goodness, this percentage is lower than usual’. And if you’re constantly worried about where you might have gone wrong, you aren’t really enjoying those great moments.”
