Our Surrogacy Journey To Parenthood

Our Surrogacy Journey To Parenthood

Welcome, friends to our surrogacy journey to parenthood! It is a thrill to share this next chapter of our transformative journey to motherhood. Navigating the challenging terrain of infertility has led us to this beautiful moment—our surrogate’s journey begins! In January, we took the exciting step of shipping our two remaining frozen embryos and a sample from my husband to the clinic. By March, came a blessing of a wonderful gestational carrier. The administer of the her first injection was on April 2nd. Despite a small delay due to illness, they will monitor her and will move to the next phase of her cycle on April 16th.

This journey is a testament to resilience and hope. We are so grateful for the opportunity to explore alternative paths to parenthood. Thank you for being part of our story. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, and for cheering us on every step of the way. Your continued support means the world to us! Join our community of kindred spirits and stay tuned for further updates as we navigate this empowering process together. With gratitude, love, and blessings to you all! ❤️ Our Surrogacy Journey To Motherhood

What is Infertility?

Infertility: The inability to conceive after one year of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse. It can affect both men and women and the cause may be a variety of factors, including issues with the reproductive organs, hormonal imbalances, age, lifestyle factors, or underlying medical conditions. In some cases, the cause of infertility may remain unexplained.

Infertility can be classified into two main categories:

  1. Primary infertility – when a person has never been able to conceive.
  2. Secondary infertility – when a person has been able to conceive in the past but is unable to do so again.

It’s important to note that infertility is a medical condition and does not reflect an individual’s or couple’s worth. Many treatments and interventions, such as medications, assisted reproductive technologies (like IVF), or surrogacy, can help individuals and couples fulfill their desire to have children.

What is a Surrogate?

A surrogate is a woman who carries and delivers a child for another individual or couple, known as the intended parents, who are unable to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term themselves. When a person or couple faces infertility, medical conditions, or other challenges that make pregnancy difficult or impossible, that is when they may turn to a Surrogate.

There are two types of surrogates:

  1. Traditional Surrogate: In this arrangement, the surrogate is genetically related to the child because her own egg is used for fertilization, typically through artificial insemination. This is less common today due to legal and emotional complexities.
  2. Gestational Surrogate: In this arrangement, the surrogate carries a pregnancy created through in vitro fertilization (IVF), using an embryo that is not genetically related to her. The embryo is typically created using the egg and sperm of the intended parents or donors.

Surrogacy can be an incredible and selfless act of assistance for those hoping to build a family, and the process is often supported by legal agreements to ensure clarity and protection for all parties involved.
